I don't think of myself as mysterious. Or aloof. I don't stop living my life the way I want to. I don't hide from the press, I just don't court it. There are people who do that. People who thrive off of it. Who make a living by inviting the world into their daily intimate affairs but that's not me. I'm not a celebrity, I'm a storyteller. When I'm on screen I don't want you to be thinking about Ida Madu and who she's shagging. I think a lot of actors do themselves a grave injustice by offering too much of their personal lives. It can become a distraction for your audiences. I understand the natural inclination to share and to be open but for me it's a very fine line that I don't want to cross. There has to be a distinction between what's mine and what I'm willing to share.

I think I was one of the last people on the planet to get a Instagram account. Social media terrifies me but I felt like I could handle this form. Seemed less complicated than Facebook or Twitter or whatever else there is. Chris [ Rock ] set it up for me at a birthday party two years ago and I posted one picture of my legs with a playing card. Then I promptly went home and forgot all about it. I'll occasionally check back in from time to time. Last time I looked I had over 24k followers - or something equally ridiculous for a pair of legs. None of which are my mum by the way. I forgot to mention that. She's the only person I follow and has yet to reciprocate. Go figure?

    IDA MADU
    WHERE HAVE YOU SEEN HER?
This 35 year old British beauty had a busy year, co-starring first in Free State of Jones along side Matthew Mcconaughey and later in the British spy thriller Our Kind of Traitor. She also managed to squeeze in time to captivate audiences as the mysterious and calculating Charlotte Hale on HBO's critically accaliamed Westworld.

    WHAT'S NEXT IN 2017?
She's set to join the star studded live action cast of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. You can also catch her in the upcoming science fiction drama Annihilation (directed by ex-husband Frank Lotrek). - Ida Madu for Elle magazine Breakout stars [x]
